Happy Birthday To Me...

I gave myself a present of a $500 deductible today! I dented and scratched up my Momo's passenger-side rear door pulling into my garage. Must be getting so old I can't drive well anymore .

Patience with Patients

Last Thursday my wife gave birth to my greatest accomplishment Alexander Kincaid. This gorgeous human being is showing sides of my self that I never expected to see nor experience and for that I'm so grateful that he's here...plus, I get my wife back in about 2-3 years ;-)

Now, for those of you who are in the medical professions and do your job with excellence, compassion, and respect to your patients, I am thanking you deeply now as I now know first hand what it's like to be dependent on others to help you out in your time of need. The blog thus far is dedicated to you. THANK YOU FOR HELPING TO BRING SUCH JOY TO MY LIFE!

The doctors and staff that performed the prep for the birth, the actual birth, and subsequent procedures were bloody AWESOME! They were p-r-o the whole time and when they've won their coveted awards amongst their peers, they've earned them. They demonstrated so much skill, patience, and true caring and respect for my family.

Now onto the rest of the people we dealt with...

The post-partum care we got left a lot to be desired . There was so much staff assigned to us. We had RN's, housekeepers, residents, and medical clerical staff coming into our room at all different times of the day. I know they were all trying to do their jobs, however, there was a deep sense of being a number at the hopstial.

I found myself almost losing my temper a few times while we was there. Little things annoyed the heck out of me. For example, they all would knock on the door before entering the room. Great! However, only 1 person actually waited to hear if we were ready to let them in. There were plenty of times my wifey was in the middle of feeding my son and wasn't appropriately dressed. Why even bother to knock at that point if you're just going to bust in to the room at your own discretion?

The frequent vital sign monitoring drove me mad as well. Wifey would be asleep and they would just wake her up to get these vitals. Do you REALLY need to check her blood pressure at 3 AM? Does she look under duress while she's holding my son with a smile on her face?!

I would physically go up to the nursing desk and ask personally for everything as they would take their sweet ass time getting back to us that is important whenever we used the call button. Pain medication needed? Sure! 5 minutes when I would get in their faces and 45 minutes when I didn't.

They even screwed up A.K.'s birth certificate by spelling his last name "VELAQUEZ" and then spelling wifey's and my last name "VELAZQUEZ" on the next line! When I went to ask them to change it, I got attitude from the desk jockey there as if I was asking her to prove OJ was innocent the first time around. She told me she'd be right on it and then she disappeared for hours. Since there was a shift change at 7 PM, I decided to hit her up at 6:45 PM for just a status on whether or not she was able to get started on it. I had no expectation to have it corrected at that point especially on a Saturday night when there's less staff on duty throughout the hospital. I hunted her down to another room and asked her as she walked out what the status was. She gave me more attitude and talked to me as if I had no right to ask. She told me she talk to my wife and let her know as she had rounds to do and we would have to wait. Of course, she never spoke to the wifey, so, I knew we would have to wait till Monday to have it sorted out. Luckily, they fixed it Sunday afternoon and I verified it today.

As irritated as I got, I knew that I shouldn't tick these people off as they were in charge of taking care of my son and wife. I hated that sense of being powerless, vulnerable, and mechanical with these folks. So, I just grinned generously with my teeth clenched as tightly as possible and kept my voice calm and collected as this ensued. I was crazy to get my family out of the hospital to just get some time uninterrupted with people who actually cared deeply for us. Luckily, we were able to discharge a day early. It was totally worth it.

I can empathize with those who work with people on a day-to-day basis and have lost compassion in their work. I can see how they can become jaded and disconnected from their work especially when dealing sick people. I know they're probably underpaid and under appreciated. I just wish they wouldn't make it so easy for people who do treat them respectfully to become the patients they treat badly by having sour attitudes.

I will end this blog on a positive note. I love my wifey and baby boy.

Pure Genius

i-Tunes has been upgraded to now feature the ability to allow it to generate "genius" playlists based on a given song in your library. It groups together stuff that they figure would be compatible with a given track. On average the song they pick are 90% in line with choices I could make. Here's an example based on "This Is My Home" by Dovetail Joint:

Now, what would happen if I put Yanni as my first track? Hmmm....

It’s The End Of The World As We Know It...It’s The (It’s The)...

For the last few days, I've been getting more interested into listening to Coast to Coast AM with George Noory. So basically I'm into scaring the crap out of myself! Cot damn - the amount of things that go on in that show are stupendous. In the span of listening to two days of it, he covered:

  • The end of the Mayan calendar in 2012 and how the world as we know it is going to end. It's been prophesied a number of ways. Either we'll blow up the world, the universe will end, or we'll have a shift in perception as to how the world really is.

  • The massive dangers of aspertame. Luckily for this one, I was never a huge diet soda drinker. If you drink a lot of diet soda, double check to see if it has aspertame or Splenda in it. If it has it, DO NOT FAWKING DRINK IT!

  • Biblical prophesies being fulfilled.

  • Alien-human hybrid giants that are being held captive in various government research facilities around the world who are 12-14' in hiehgt with 4' heads. They have incredible telepathic powers that would rip your head off!

  • World War III being started by a conflict in Iran with either the US or Israel bombing Iran to halt their nuclear development and then Russia and China jumping in to defend their interests, thus, starting a conflict between us and them , thus resulting in nuclear war.

  • The New World Order (no, not the geigh wrestling group ) starting World War III as they have already been in cahoots with aliens to reduce the world population to 500 million and have one government, one world. This will be precipitated by a staged alien invasion leveraging technology that can project realistic three-dimensional images such as aliens, UFOs, and various other monsters to send the world into a frenzy of fear, thus, having all of us give up our rights to unify our governments to fight the perceived threat. Now, I don't know how this will work with the world being on fire due to WWIII, but I am sure there is something in the plans

  • Inter-dimensional travel is being done right now.

  • How past life regression holds the secrets to how we've been placed on this planet by aliens as representatives of species around the universe to see if we get along. we're one of the few planets (there are many others) where we are given free will to do what we want. Alien abductions and experimentation are meant as a way to check in on genetic progresses they implemented in the beginning. Apparently, we were supposed to be "perfect" beings with no death, no disease, or problems. Something went wrong somewhere and they're trying to fix it.

  • The pyramids around the world are basically markers for tunnels to other civilizations deep within the Earth who are technologically and spiritually more advanced than we are. Archaeologists and governments know this and are trying to cover it up.
There are a lot more things I didn't even mention here. The funny thing was that each of the guests that were on had something to sell or pimped the hell out of their website. I can't say I blame them to try to make some dough on the side to pursue this. I just keep asking myself that if they know the world is going to end or that something incredible is going to happen, why even care about money? Isn't it all going to be sh*t in the end?

I am entertained by George's responses to everything. He seems sincere to the average listener but he doesn't ever confirm nor deny anything the guests say. Here's my fictional rendition of a George Noory response:

Guest: "...and that how the government has kept us all at bay. The aliens have infiltrated all level of government and has silenced everyone who knows anything about it."

George:"Huh. Interesting."

Guest:"And if you look at my website, www.crackheadtheories.com, I sell a book called Them Fawkers Are Coming!. On page 23, I detail what the plan for our bodies these aliens have in store for us once the New World Order has been implemented."

George:"Wow! Well....I was thinking something just like that myself. What about the stargate?"

I just picture him sitting in his booth, eating a sandwich, and rolling his eyes half the time with a script of common things to respond with to make it sound like he's super interested to his listeners. He also could truly be that interested in everything these folks have to say.

I do enjoy connecting with some of the things that people talk about on that show. I just feel a little overwhelmed.

Flying Fibber

I recently posted a response on YouTube responding to P. Diddy's rant regarding having to fly commercial to save money vs. flying on his private jet. Looks like some's been fibbing a bit:

Diddy blew a lot of hot air last week about going green by ditching his "own" private jet. It was hotter than we knew.

Turns out P. doesn't even have his "own" private jet at all. An extensive look through federal aviation records by the Palm Beach Post turned up no Seans, Diddys, Combs, or Puffys as the registered owner. One source said, "I have a list of every plane with the name of the owner, and he's not on it."

For the record, says his rep, he's got a "fractional" ownership in a plane on NetJets, where you buy flight hours. Also for the record, Joe Francis does have his own plane.

Hilarious.

Very Mundane Awarding

I caught a part of the VMAs last night and saw Britney win all of her nominations for awards. for some reason I can't accept that she "truly" deserved those awards. Granted, all of the awards are BS anyway, but I have trained my mind into suspending disbelief . What offended me so much about it was just how obvious and blatantly planned her "winning" the awards was. There was the hype around whether or not she would show up at the awards. Then there was the hype around whether she would perform to redeem herself for last year's awards performance debacle. She got a standing ovation for just showing up? WTF?

Is it that these people just want their "old Britney" back? Or is that she had such a great record, music video, and dance performance that she deserved it?

Pruno - The Elixir of the Gawds!

I was watching MSNBC Lock-Up tonight. It's a fantastic reality show in that it reinforces my desire to NEVER go to jail or prison. I'd become someones beatch quickly and end up getting shanked in the shower figuratively and metaphorically. However, I did get the chance to learn about something new and that item is Pruno. It's a prison "wine" made from rotting fruit, sugar, and ketchup. It's described as a vomit-tasting wine cooler .

If you'd like to try some, check out the video below:

Driving Down A Treacherous Road

Wednesday night I was driving a friend of mine home form the recording studio. He's a guy that works at my favorite Mexican restaurant in town and always hooks a brother up . The least I could do was drive him home late at night. On the way, we started talking about religion and we landed on the topic of one religion (which shall remain nameless but heavily alluded to) which I have been researching online for the better part of a year in earnest and a few years off and on. It's name is commonly brought up when talking about celebrities and Hollywood .

I told him everything I had learned about the religion as an outsider and my feelings on it. When I started telling him about the basic premise/belief structure with the opening line of "Seventy-five million years ago...yes, 75 million years ago...", he was taken aback and said "Dude, is this for real???" I gave him a brief overview of what I understood regarding advancement in the religion, how much money is donated to the organization by an individual, and some of the past practices (good and bad) people have performed under the auspices of the religion. He was shocked and dismayed by what I told him. I did tell him that he needed to make his own decisions about it himself, and if he was interested in getting a more well-rounded perception of it, there was plenty of material on the internet he could research. I also told him there are two major buildings in the city he could go to if he wanted to see it for himself.

I enjoyed telling him about what I had discovered, but what I really hated was the fear I conjured up as soon as I started talking out loud to him about it. It wasn't the fear of the content of the discussion, but the fear that someone from their group would find out and make my life a living hell . There are documented cases of people being literally destroyed by these folks who have deep pockets and a lot of time on their hands. Even right now I'm hesitating communicating any kind of judgment on it and it makes me angry with myself for being such a coward about it . I may be seen as paranoid, dorky, stupid, or all the above by being aloof, but these are folks you don't want to fawk with unless you have the energy and resources to do so. So, I am avoiding fawking with them outright by being as balanced as possible in this blog.

I stayed up late last night listening to audio from a radio show in Texas where they had a vocal opponent to the organization on along with the chief public relations officer on talking about their differing viewpoints on the matter. For the first half hour, each person taking lead on different days got to have their say about they believe the religion is all about, and then the host brought on the opposing viewpoint. When they put both of these folks on, the conversation quickly dissolved into accusations and personal attacking. It was pretty uncomfortable to listen to because of the bickering. It was clear to me that if someone wanted to learn about it and have a complete view, they would have to go to multiple sources.

If you decide to comment, allow the religion to rename nameless. Don't want them coming to a show and heckling me.
